MVC Registry
MVC provides an online registry with episode-based utilization metrics centered on administrative claims data from a variety of sources (see below). MVC data includes 30- and 90-day episodes for 40+ different medical and surgical conditions. These claims-based episodes include the index hospitalization, professional costs, post-acute care, and readmissions in the 30- to 90-day window following a patient's index discharge. These data are also price standardized and risk adjusted to allow for the study of practice pattern variation and fair comparisons across members. At present, the MVC registry captures approximately 84% of the insured population of Michigan. For further details on MVC's methods, please see the MVC Data Guide from February 2022.
What We Offer
Registry Reports
MVC registry users can access a range of interactive data visualization reports for MVC's 40+ inpatient/surgery-based episodes of care. Reports such as the episode cost table, readmission table, payment by condition, or skilled nursing facilities report (to name a few) are some of the ways users can gain insights into cost opportunities. All figures on the registry are interactive, allowing drill-down to reveal more detailed information.
QE Data
MVC received accreditation as a Qualified Entity (QE) through the Qualified Entity Certification Program (QECP), also known as the Medicare Data Sharing for Performance Measurement Program, in 2022. As a QE, MVC was able to launch 20 new QE reports on the MVC registry, which gives authorized users the ability to drill down into patient-level Medicare data.
Registry Training
MVC offers one-on-one registry training to new or existing users tailored to your site's data, priorities, and questions. An MVC staff member would meet with you virtually to demonstrate the registry's functionality and filter options, and answer any questions about utilizing it to support your quality improvement efforts.
MVC is certified by CMS
as a Qualified Entity.
MVC successfully completed the CMS Qualified Entity Certification Program (QECP) in 2022. As a result, MVC is able to offer members unsuppressed Medicare data and patient-level details. As a QE, MVC must publish a public report on provider performance annually, incorporating QE Medicare and other payer data. The focus of these reports thus far has been outpatient follow-up after hospitalization for CHF or COPD and unplanned rehospitalizations in the first 30 days of post-acute home health care.
